Pet Licensing & Permits
Overview
Pet owners in Claremore City Limits are required by ordinance to have their pet licensed. The licenses are available for purchase at the City Clerk’s Office at 104 S. Muskogee. The pet owner must provide proof of vaccination and pay one of the following one-time licensing fees:
  • $5 for each dog or cat that has been spayed or neutered (must provide proof of sterilization from veterinarian)
  • $20 for each dog or cat that has not been spayed or neutered

All licenses are good for the life of the animal.

Commercial Permits
City ordinance allows for five pets per household. Vendors and breeders may apply for a Commercial Animal Establishment permit. The application must be notarized and accompanied by cash, money order, or cashier’s check in the amount of $20 for the permit. An application processing fee of $20 shall be assessed for the initial application.

A background check will be conducted to determine if the applicant has been convicted of animal abuse or cruelty charges in the past ten years. You will be notified of acceptance or denial within 30 days of the application date. Check city ordinances for details on what type of animals are permitted.

Hobbyist Exemption Permits are available for pet owners who have more than five specialized animals (such as hunting dogs) for $25 and a $10 subsequent renewal fee.
