Celebrating Claremore’s Park and Recreation Story
Each July, people across the United States celebrate Park and Recreation Month to promote building strong, vibrant and resilient communities. This month also provides an opportunity to recognize those dedicated professionals and volunteers responsible for maintaining the country’s local, state and community parks.
Claremore is home to more than 1,200 acres of fishing, hiking and mountain biking on Claremore Lake, two golf courses, a nature reserve and a variety of camping options, providing residents and visitors alike a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities and the backdrop for many lifelong memories.
Over the holiday weekend, thousands of people gathered at Claremore Lake to enjoy the annual Independence Day Spectacular. The event kicked off early Saturday morning with the Kid’s Fishing Derby and concluded with a breathtaking firework show.
Parks are at the heart of many life-long memories and unforgettable experiences. These moments would not be possible without the continual work, devotion, and commitment of the park and recreation professionals and volunteers who help make them happen.
This mission of the Claremore Parks and Recreation team is to create a world-class experience for each guest at one of its many parks, sporting complexes or recreation center. The community strives to be a premier destination for both residents and visitors alike. Providing high-quality facilities and recreation opportunities for citizens is a top priority for the city’s leadership and parks team. To meet this goal, the city council dedicated substantial funding in this year’s budget for continual maintenance, future upgrades and enhancements.
This month, please thank our community’s park staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to provide exceptional service, amenities, and programs through the Parks and Recreation Department. Additionally, do not forget to take advantage of some of the best park and recreation facilities in the state, located in your own backyard!
