What network do the HotSpots use?
The HotSpots are on the T-Mobile LTE network, so you will need to be within this provider’s coverage area for the HotSpot to work. HotSpots cannot be used outside the United States.
Be advised that HotSpots are unsecured, wireless networks. Any information sent or received over the HotSpot network could potentially be intercepted by another wireless user. Patrons are advised against transmitting sensitive or personal information while using the HotSpot.
How many devices can I connect to a HotSpot?
One HotSpot can support up to 15 devices for basic web surfing, or up to two to three devices for streaming. They will perform at 4G/LTE speeds, just like the speed of cellphone internet.
Is there a data limit?
The data plan is unlimited; however, the service provider may lower speed or limit the amount of data that its network can handle for a short time.
Is web browsing restricted in any way while using the HotSpot?
In accordance with CIPA Federal regulations and Library policies, all HotSpots are equipped with a content filter that prevents viewing of pornographic and malicious websites. No filter is 100% effective and may block access to some sites while allowing access to others. Please be advised that it is the responsibility of the parent to monitor their children’s Internet usage when using the HotSpot.
If the HotSpot prompts to update software or firmware, what should I do?
The HotSpot periodically receives software updates from the service provider. You can accept the update, which may take a few minutes.
